LET THERE BE LIGHT?
Surrey County Council aims to look at a faulty light within three days, and if possible, fix it immediately. ‘If not, you can wait for weeks, months, even years’ Diana Smith, County Councillor for Knaphill and Goldsworth West said. ‘A long-standing problem in Goldfort Walk got sorted with a little chasing – but there’s one light in Knaphill that has been out for over four years!’
If the electrical supply is the problem, be prepared for delay. Because of Conservative privatisation, the monopoly supplier is EDF (Electricite de France). As Surrey’s web-site explains, EDF has no under no obligation to maintain continuity of supply. Surrey is limited to ‘friendly persuasion’.
This is bad enough with lights, but new pedestrian crossing facilities in Woking, including two new controlled crossings in Knaphill, have been put on hold for months for lack of an electrical supply.
